Hello Friends,
I wanted to thank you for your participation in Stack the Deck for Vets and take this opportunity to bring you up to date on what has transpired since our Casino Night Party! We have accomplished so much in the four months since these 54 cards made their big debut…
With a portion of the proceeds raised from the November 11th event, we purchased a new sport wheel chair for a wounded warrior, courtesy of the Watering Seeds Organization. Operation Once in a Lifetime harnessed our funds to purchase and deliver televisions and games to the soldiers recuperating in the military hospital in Landstuhl, Germany. And through Sergeant Patrick Sower’s contacts, we granted the once-in-a-lifetime wish for the McDonald family of Fort Hood to attend the Cowboys / Philadelphia playoff game. Operation Healthy Reunions received $5,000 for mental health care to aid soldiers and their families. In addition, Operation Homefront received a donation for emergency financial and morale assistance to our troops, and their families when they return home. I’m happy to report that 1,000 decks have been sent to soldiers on the front, or to the bases before they depart.
Thanks to everyone for your help. You are MODEL CITIZENS.
To the stellar people who were involved in the making of the deck, our board members, and our friends and family who volunteered along the way to allow things to happen -- WE SALUTE YOU!
The good news is: We still have almost 8,000 decks of cards! (www.stackthedeckforvets.com)
Mark your calendars now for Thursday November 11th, 2011 for what will be another remarkable evening and a chance to have some fun and support our troops.
Sincerely,
Stacie Webb Martin
